October 2013 to March 2014 I had reoccuring Shingles. I lost count how many times they went away with medication then came back within a week. I was on Valtrex 1000 mg 3 times a day during the active stage along with steroids which I stopped after the third round due to puffy swelling I couldn't handle any longer. I am still taking 1000mg of Valtex to keep it under control. I went to every Dr. I could trying to get an answer what was happening to me. Some treated me as if I was making up the reoccurance a, some told me it wasn't shingles, some had no answer at all. Shingles is a very misunderstood virus in the medical community from what I have learned!
I am a flight attendant and for some unknown reason there is a high incident of breast cancer within our work group. I found a lump, which was confirmed thru a mamaogram and ultrasound. A biopsy determined it was cancer. I was getting my nails done when I got the call and I have not cried at all ...telling my family was the hardest part so far. I am stage one, estrogen/progestrogen positive HER2negative. I had my first surgery last week to remove the cancer lumpectomy and one lymph node. I don't have the results from pathology yet ...but the plan thus far is to have my tired old implants removed(thank God) and then radiation. Radiation not recommended with implants. No chemo ...but that might change.
Life will never be the same. I still have a ways to go but I know I will be ok. Happy to finally know what has been wrong with me!! The shingles was brought on from the stress my body was dealing with. I'm on a mission now to find out if others with breast cancer or other cancers had an outbreak with shingles prior to being diagnosed.
